Can anyone give me the FORD part number for this part? Thanks!

EDIT 9-16-04... well my FORD dealer got the bag of 3... says they are said by FORD to be an "OBSOLETE NUMBER". AND, the part number I list below is for O RING SEALS - NOT DOUBLE LIP. The parts guy claims that FORD only shows ONE number - the obsolete one, so maybe FORD never made the double lip seal at ALL!<?>

I was wondering the same thing. Any help would be appreciated.

Last time I was inside my valve body, I asked the gentleman behind the Ford parts counter about it. I didn't have a part number, but I told him I knew of the upgrade. He could only give me a dumb look (the dumb look was free, BTW :) ). Probably doesn't help, because I suspect a similar scenario is what prompted this post. I, too, would be interested if someone knows Ford's P/N for the double lip seal, or if it was only available in the aftermarket.

are you guys interested in the parts for a v8 tranny or a v6 one.... if its the v8 one i can probably help you out as i just finished rebuilding mine and put in some of the updated valve body stuff....

I guess no one's said it yet. We are (at least, I assume we have been) talking about the A4LD that was behind the 4.0 in the first gen ('91-'94) Explorers.

Well I ordered what I THINK is the double reverse servo double lip seal. It only came in 3's and the FORD guy told me he wasn't gonna stock it, so if I wanted it I'd have to buy 3. (Which, if it IS the right one, means I'll have one to sell <g> or donate to a worthy individual.) Anyway, the part No. as I ordered it was D4ZZ-7423A.

As an aside, the Low Reverse piston assembly is D7ZZ-7D189 A, B and C. B is the one with no groove, "A" I believe is the one (1) groove and "C" is the two (2) grooves (I THINK!) It costed out at $24.69. HTH someone.

Btw the seals were costed out at $7.20 per ea.

[EDIT - Yes - I am sorry, how dumb of me... Mr. Shorty is correct - the A4LD is the trannie in Q.]

Well the seals were just friggin O rings at $7 each!!!! And because they are "obsolete" I'm stuck with them. The shorter piston assembly was also obsolete and the dealer found one ona shelf in another dealership 100 miles from here. Looks like increasingly the support for the A4LD is NOT going to be coming from FORD! (transtar maybe).

check your yellow pages. You may be able to find a supplier local to you for trans parts. Thats where I got mine last time I replaced the very same seal you are talking about. The place I got it from only carried it as part of an overhaul kit. Got you most of the gaskets and misc. o-rings and seals needed. Cost me like $16 for the whole kit.
