ford thunderbolt

it is kinda ugly, but that's what mods are for:)
some chrome 20's, a paint job, lowered, shaved handles and tailgate, and remove that ugly spoiler.

then you have a nice looking fast truck:)

i think fords intent was to have a decent "pre-modded" platform to start with; unfortunately, it looks like they didnt do too good of a job, heh. i mean, how could they take an f150 and make a lightning, but then take a ranger and make this thing? i used to wonder when they were gonna do something cool with the explorer, but after seeing this, i certainly hope they leave it alone (at least, the sports; they already screwed up the 4 doors enough ;) )

i totally agree. i hope they leave the sports snd ST's alone.

the one i saw wasnt nearly as ugly. it was all white with no graphics. it still had the ugly spoiler on it though. they said the spoiler was optional.
yeh i was wondering the same.... how does a 4.0 with exhuast and a intake run 14s?
i dunno if its true or not but thats just what they were sayin on motorweek tv.

I can see getting 14.9 out of the Ranger if they swapped tires to a bit smaller and regeared to something more sporty. My '94 Ranger ran 16.4 in the 1/4 mile with its 160 HP OHV 4.0L. If it would have had another 62 HP, I could see it possibly dipping into the 14s. Look at the new Nissan Altimas. Nissan went from a 17.0 second, 160 HP car to a 14.9 second, 240 HP car. The new Altima is even larger and about 50 lbs. heavier than the previous one. If they can drop 2.1 seconds in the 1/4 mile with 80 HP on a bigger car, it stands to reason that Ford could drop 1.5 seconds with 62 HP.

I can't believe how fast the SOHC is. It's not that good when you are already moving, but when you hit the gas from a stop it MOVES!! It revs up to about 5500 RPM's. I have intake and exhaust and I can tell that it has gotten a little faster. They say that a stock SOHC runs a 16.5 (not too bad for a stock SUV). I would say that I am in the high 15's. Maybe I'll get to the track sometime this spring after I get my superchip.

i went to the ranger run over here in florida because me and troll where towing a supercharged ranger we had done there any ways i say a couple stock rangers go mid to low 15's. those soch motors run awsome with 4.10 gears, good tires, stall converter, chip, mass air, and exhaust i dont see why it can go mid 14's on motor.

I have a 98 4X4 SOHC XLT. What gears do I have?

Look on the drivers side front door at the sticker located there. The axel code will be there.
