Hi all any guidance most welcomed. I have owned my '97 4 litre Explorer for ten great years and will never part with it. When we moved to Spain I brought her with me even though she is right hand drive and she is now Spanish plated.

I don't recommend Ford service in Spain so I use a private no franchised serving facility who keep the vehicle in tip top condition with never a starting nor running problem.

However recently I have noticed a warning light a small car in a circle with a line through it. About the same time I heard a droning hum from the front drivers wheel, or that's where it appears to be coming from.

There is no reference to this warning light in the hand books but it's located in the top right corner of the instrument cluster, over the oil pressure gauge bearing in mind please this is a right hand drive UK market vehicle. The running does nor appear to be affected, it's just annoying that I don't know what this light is. All assistance greatly valued and acknowledged.

Thanks Dave

I'm not sure what that light is, but maybe post a picture of the light so we can see it.

You might see if an OBDII code scanner reads any trouble codes. I don't recall such an icon on my dash but in the top left corner there's a generic "Check Gauges" red text that comes on for some events like being low on fuel, but it's so unobtrusive that I could drive for a long time and never notice it came on.

Is there also a bell or some other kind of audible alert when the gas tank is nearly empty? I "thought" I once heard it, but that was a while ago, might have been in a different vehicle.

Seems to me we've had this question before. Do you have the self leveling suspension option (what's it called? Ark? Arc?)

That light tells you that you've turned off the air pump for the automatic leveling system.
The switch is right at the back of the car in the luggage compartment on the passenger side RHD.

But if you've had the car for 10 years then you will have already seen that switch so maybe it's warning you that something in the self leveling system isn't working.
