I've got to replace my intake manifold gaskit, so I bought all the gaskits from Ford.

The valve cover gaskets are metal, looks like soft alumium. So what kind of sealer do I put on it?

Intake is the new neoprene what should I use on it.

My two favorites are No 1 permatex and the High temp ATV

I also picked up new intake and valve cover gaskets from the dealer. When I replace mine. I think since the lower intake is a valley pan type gasket, just a small "bloob will be needed in the lower corners. Nothing is needed on the valve cover gaskets.

Good luck.

I just did my ranger a couple of weeks ago and the gaskets were the soft alum. Just a couple of dabs in the corners like Bill said and your good to go. Torque down to factory specs, crush the alum. to much and it will start to leak again. Have fun, it will take a good part of your afternoon.

After having been through this 3 times, I have the following words of wisdom ( also as per Ford and 3 ford techs):

New Ford Gasket - use NO sealant, or at the most in the 4 corners. DO NOT put it around the water jacket ports, etc as per the Haynes manual.

Valve Covers: A small amount of sealant where the heads meet the intake (4 corners again)
