I have had a lot of fords I am looking into buying a 91 to 94 explorer were there any major problems with them the 1 i was looking at the 4 litre had a slight tick in the motor i remember my ranger had that in the 2.9 litre what should i look for, in my price range they have around 200 to 275 km do those engines burn or leak oil at that many k,s?

with that many km's, you could have tons of potential problems. I guess it really depends on how well the car was taken care of, and how many new parts have been put on it recently. The lifter? tick should be reason for concern. If you are on a serious budget, I would probably get something 2wd, because with a 4wd car there is so many more things that can go wrong (transfer case, diff problems). Good luck tho.
