Four wheel drive problem

Hi I have a problem. My four wheel will not go in when iI push the button. Some times it will go in if I tap on the Small motor (looks like a small wiper motor)on the transfer case. Could it be that motor or something in the case that wont let it move? What would that motor cost and how had is it to change? Thanks for the help
