i have a 93 xlt that when i engage the four, and i turn the wheel hard to either side while i am moving, it feels like the front tires are locked up and won't spin, like i am plowing with them. any idea what may cause this, i was told that i may have a bad hub, would replacing the hub help?

I have posted a response to this before, but here it is again. That is normal behavior for a 4x4 that is engaged and the wheel is turned almost to the lock limit. It's caused by the joints in the axle binding when the wheels are turned to an extreme angle. If you are on pavement, don't do it. Easiest advice. There is no cure other than to not turn the wheel so far. Continuing to drive with the joints binding will cause breakage of one or more components.

Yep, that's normal behavior for a 4x4....
