Freeze plug leak

1999 5.0 AWD Explorer. 200k miles. Leaking freeze plug behind engine against upper firewall. Pinhole, but definitely leaks. Looks like I have to pull the engine to repair - don't want to use Barsleak etc.

Any ideas? Thanks
 






replace it with a block heater!
it allows you to tighten it in instead of pounding it. works awesome in tight places, as long as you can get your hand in there, you're golden. worth the 25.00, beats pulling the motor.

Thanks for the idea. I'll look into it. But . . . can't even see the spot without an extension dental mirror.
 






you might have to "cut" the heating element depending on where the plug is with respects to the interior jack... there may not be enough space in the cavity.
