So i'm planning on taking my gf out to the coast for the weekend come here at the end of this month. Fort Bragg, Ca which is almost 210 miles away from my homestead. I am already planning on doing the U-Joints in my Driveshafts, on the count of they are old as hell and the last thing I need is one of them to blow apart on my road trip.

I am fully awar on how to do the rear diff. flush and fluid change, but as for the front I am completely lost. Where is the drain/full plugs for this?
What fluid does everyone like to run in the 8.8 and D35 front?

I flushed my tranny about 1,000 miles ago with top of the line Merc V. Now I plan on doing my TC. Does this take normal ATF?
Where are the drain/fill plugs for the TC as well? Any/all help, pictures, and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Evan

For the rear diff, my cousin who is a HUGE Ford guy has always used 75-90 FULL synthetic...Mobil 1, Lucas, Amsoil, Royal Purple..pick your poison... with bottle of Friction Modifier which you can get at a ford garage.

Here is a video on you tube that shows the transfer case as well

Also, to save some effort later if you happen to develop a leak...buy an aftermarket rear cover, some come with a fill and drain plug, might make it easier to change next time

If the trans was flushed, the TC has new fluid in it as it shares the trans fluid.

They use the same fluid, but they do not "share" the same fluid.
There is a drain and a fill port on the rear of the tranfer case. Try the upper/fill first. If you can get the fill plug out great, It could be a crappy day if you got the drain plug out and then found the fill plug was rusted shut.

So merc v for the tc as well?
How many quarts?
What about the front diff? How do i go about draining and filling that puppy?

Read the Dead Link Removed. It has written exactly what kind of fluids you need and when. Rear end with limited slip has synthetic and doesn't need any replacement - unless you drove it under water.
Merc V replaced Merc in transmission applications, but not in the transfer case.

I respectfully disagree. I changed mine out after 100K miles and it was a nasty green colored soup that you couldn't pass light through when I put the drained fluid in a two-litre soda bottle. I've never driven in deep water. I replaced it with Redline Synthetic and didn't need a friction modifier additive.

So Merc V in the TC with a synthetic 75-90 for both front and rear diffs?
