Hi,

My 2005 Ford Explorer had noise issues when I turned. It was initially diagnosed as a rack and pinion issue by the Ford dealership. Since, I did not believe them, I took it to another dealership who informed me it was an issue with the rear differential. After verifying with another mechanic that it was indeed a rear differential issue, I had the rear differential assembly replaced. Now the dealership is saying that there is still noise and that its coming from loose bearings on the differential housing. Now I am not sure if they are just trying to gouge me into more repairs but as the noise from the turns has disappeared, I am ok with not fixing the housing. I would like to check if its safe to have a loose differential housing. They are trying to charge me over $2500 for the differential housing and based on what I have seen in the forums, they will keep getting loose as they are made of aluminium and not cast iron.

Thank you for your opinions in advance.

God Bless!

Might want to put this in the correct year/body section. This is for 2011 +
