From reading other post, I am planning on buying both front ABS sensors. I already replaced the rear one but it did not stop the ABS from activating while braking at slow speeds. Are there any other parts such as O-Rings or bolts etc that are recommended to replace at the same time? Also my understanding is that I need to remove the rotor and then the rotor shield to get to the sensor. Any help is much appreciated... Todd 95 4WD 79K

Yes, as you suspected, you will have to remove the rotor and dust shield to get to the front ABS wheel speed sensors. Be careful on the bolts holding the ABS sensor to the spindle; as mine are, these bolts are often rounded.

You can't replace just the sensor on second gen's. Its built into the hub/spindle.

I was able to get to the sensor by taking off the rotor and rotor shield. The sensor was mounted with one hex head bolt. After taking it off, I saw grease on the inside ring so I shot brake cleaner on it. Then I put is back together and the problem is still there. Tomorrow I am going to pay the big money and replace the sensors. Thank s for all of the help….Todd 95 4x4
