I have a 96 xlt 5.0 explorer awd and I want to put lockers in it but I'm not sure if it can even be done without blowing the transfer case apart I've herd yes and no
Anyone know?

The only locker you should use in the front axle of a AWD vehicle would be a selectable locker (ARB, E-Locker, etc.). Any other type can cause severe (and often unpredictable) pulling issues in the steering when you let up and/or get on the gas.
Unfortunately I'm not aware of any selectable lockers offered for the A-arm IFS D35 axle your vehicle has.

Putting a locker of any type in just the rear axle can still make a huge improvement offroad though. Without having a low-range gear, I'm not sure a locker up front would even be needed anyway.
