My 02 mounty has the front and rear diff's are leaking and I need to service both of them. My question is all I have is a small jack I do have a 200 gal air compressor and impact tools, but limited space to do the job. For the guys who have done this before should I tackle this my self or take it somewhere and have it done?

Where are hey leaking?
Mine leak too but I'm regearing and rebuilding mine soon.
A flush n fill is doable but depending on where its leaking it may be much more work..
Mine will be pulled but the cv seals are kinda a pain to get to.(expensive labor)

The front is leaking from the top the rear is leaking from the bottom, I also found out my cv joint seal on the left side is leaking. I want to get all these things fixed before I lift i

Well I just went to a guy that I know really well he said the cheapest he could do it for me was $500 not including parts which I could get cheap since I work at advanced auto parts. But I did not know it would be that much to do that just for gaskets.

To re-seal the rear cover you have to pull the CV axles and drop the whole diff...big job. And you can just use a bead of RTV for that.

the rear axle seals could possibly be done with the diff in the truck, but loads easier with the diff out.

Front is do-able with the diff still in the truck, you just need to drop the swaybar to get the most room.

here's a thread that shows what's involved with dropping the rear diff...you could probably handle it with the tools you've got but you do need a socket for the axle nuts and a hub puller for removing the axles:

And here's how to change out the axle seals:

for that you need a 3 jaw puller and slide hammer, as well as a lisle seal driver.

Thanks ronin8002 I may try to do this my self how long did it take you to drop the rear diff and reinstall it? Will there be any need to drop the rear struts mine need to be replaced so if it is easier to drop those to do it I will do that and replace those as well.

It took a good chunk of time but I was also doing it in the hot sun and taking notes and pics so I was taking my time. If you get down to it and have someone helping, maybe 3-4 hours. In the threads I gave to you you'll see there is no need to mess with the struts, but you could easily do them with the suspension apart. The threads help so just reference those and post in this thread if you have any questions.

Thanks I think I am going to try it that's just way to much to spend and I want to keep the mounty cause one day I am going to sas it. I will deff post up pics or questions
