I am trying to figure out if I need to replace my auto-lockouts with manual or if I have problems with the front differintal. Last fall I pushed the 4x4 button and I heard a loud grinding until I disengaged it and tried it again and the same thing happened. I thought I had hub problems so I took both hubs apart and there is nothing visably wrong that I can see with any of the hub parts. I was getting ready to order some man. lockouts but I wanted to be sure so I pulled the Expl. up on ramps and turned the drive shaft by hand and the left side axle turned but the right won't. I put a pipe wrench on the right axle but I cannot turn it, it hits solid. Does this sound like it is as it should be or do I have diff.problems. Thanks

sounds like its the hubs.....

I am presently having a similar problem, and it is definetly the fragile autohubs. With mine,I will get a crunching or grinding noise when first engaged or under heavy stress.Mind you,I am not as gentle as I should be for a near stock set up.My Warn Premiums are on order,eh!!!:D
