I have a 2004 4.0 v6 with 87k. Bought used at 67k, under warranty had a rear axle seal and front left wheel bearing replaced. Its been exactly a year since i bought the truck and was just talking about how happy i was i went an entire year without having to bring my vehicle in for repairs (should of knocked on wood!). I was changing my oil the other day and noticed a wet area around the front axle seal. Hoping it was just water i touched and smelled it and yup, it was gear oil. Id like to get it replaced this week, as i drive 300 miles a week for work. I basicly dont want to get ripped off on a price, so i was going to ask you guys how much it usually costs for a job like that? Id probably go to the dealer i bought it from.. and I was also going to ask where the fill bolt is located (snowy and cold here so if i can know where it is before i go looking that would help) so i can check the level/ top it off.
