I've been having a nasty grinding issue in my front end and brought it in to figure out what it is and found out it is my front drivers side wheel bearing. I was wondering if there is a thread on this, and how hard and what parts I need to replace this myself. Its a 97 4.0, and id like to try to replace as little as I need to, thanks!

Scratch that, I just read through the forums and need to replace the whole assembly and there is a sticky on it.. I love this forum!

2wd or 4wd?

If 2wd, you can actually change the race and bearing yourself. ~$12

If 4wd, the bearing comes as a part of the hub assembly. ~$150

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Nope. Spot-on (except the prices start at $150 for the hub assembly...)

Unless you buy the cheap one on eBay- don't do it. Every one that has done it has had to replace them in under a year. Buy the good ones...

So, (as I like to hear myself) ^that Joe^ is right.
