I need to replace the front bumper on my '94 Explorer. I would like to get an aftermarket bumper, but the choices seem to be somewhat limited. As far as I can tell only Smittybuilt and James Duff make bumpers. I like the looks of the ARB, but it doesn't look like they make one. They do make one for a Jeep Cherokee. Has anyone tried to adapt one of these to an explorer? Thanks in advance.

I talked directly to ARB Australia not too long ago. They said there are currently, and probably never will be, any plans to make a bumper for X's. They told me I could try a bumper for a Cherokee, but that there would be some major modifying to mount it.

Any weld shop can easily refit any bumper to fit an explorer. Simply remove your front bumper, and figure out where you want it to sit height-wise. Take it to a welding&fab shop and tell them to weld an L shaped bracket onto each side. Here is my attempt to draw it in 3d (ignore the periods, spaces don't work):

One end of the L gets welded to the bumper, and the other gets two holes put in it so you can run them through the stock bumper mount holes.
Kinda hard to describe without pictures, but if you don't get it let me know and I'll put some digitals up soon.

Check out the Goup Buys section for a Kennesaw bumper. Here are some pics of mine . I am extremely happy with it, its very tough and very heavy.
