I have a 2021 Explorer Limited AWD - I've been getting error messages for a Front Camera Fault and Pre-Collision Assistance Unavailable. My Cruise Control also isn't working... I suspect because it uses the front camera to sense the car in the lane.

Now I can use the button on the dash to turn on my front camera so it must be something with a sensor. I've done some sleuthing trying to figure out if it's something I can fix on my own. I have been able to fix my power fold rear seats when one was stuck and was able to reset the center screen to many times to count. So far, I can't figure out a way to fix the front camera.

I've read that it can be a wire that's loose to the tune of $200 to needing a new module for $4000.

Has anyone had a similar issue and what was the fix? Want to have an idea of what I'm I for before I take it to the dealer.

There's another camera in the windshield that's the problem not the one in your grill.

I've had a similar fault warning but cleaning the camera has always fixed it. I wonder if the redesigned grille on the 2025 Aviator has something to do with it since the license plate is right below it and prevents debris from going through the grille. I've had the warning 3 times already in just a few months. I only had the warning once with my 2020 Aviator while driving in freezing rain. Zero issues with the 2023.

I didn't realize there was a camera in the windshield. Can you help me identify the location? Is it in the big "block" behind the rearview mirror? I love my Explorer but am irritated with the failure of the features I paid extra for!

Lanekeeping uses the camera behind the rearview mirror and the camera in the grille is used for the adaptive cruise control.

Is the camera in the grill the one for collision warning/auto braking?

On the 6th gen the collision warning unit (radar) is behind the lower fascia cover in the centre of the lower part of the grille. In the 5th gen it was on the lower right side. It is not a camera.

Just had this happen on my '19 Ranger Lariat. It was a dead camera. $2100 later, all good...fortunately extended warranty covered $1400. When I tried to read the camera and module using Forscan it could not even communicate with it.

UGH! Thanks for the information and the cost. I hope I don't have to replace the camera!

I hope that camera that peterk sent you to the link to works. And Benny at Levittown Ford is great to work with. I looked up my Ranger camera and it is $951 through them. I suspect that programming will be required.
