I talked to someone the other day, and they said that there was a company now making front coil spacers for the Explorer. Any info on this would be higly appreciated. I just added the Warrior Shackles on top of my add-a-leavs, and I'm funning a 2 1/2" kit up front. Right now I'm sitting just a little over an inch lower in the front and I'm looking for spacers. I have a set that a had fabricated and I'm going to set them in this weekend if I don't find a manufacturer. Please let me know, anyone, ASAP.

Found Them

Okay, I found the info myself. The company is DayStar out of Pheonix. The part # is KU09021. I called my local 4x4 shop and they said they could get them in about three days at a price of $11.95. Now, if there not too difficult to install, this will be a cheap extra inch up front. Which will help me get rid of the slight fender rub in climbing turns. I'll post some info about the install in about a week.

Keep us posted! This may be something I'm interested in too. I want 35's on my truck and was looking at a 3" body lift. Maybe, this will help me to clear them?

Any suggestions on whether this is a good idea?

Off to Ouray!

Are these spacers that go between the spring, and the pad, or do they go between the actual coils...? I would think that if they go between the coils that they would limit compression...?

I moved this thread here from the For Sale forum.

Under Spring

The spacers go under the coil spring and coil spring retainer. They are simular to the popular ones made by Pro Comp Explorer for Jeeps. Mine should be here Tuesday. As soon as I get them they are going in...so check back for more posts on this subject. I will take pictures of the install and post them. We are getting to get some real low buck mods on here. You could easily put a 2" lift on an Explorer for under a $100 bones. Just do the hockey puck body lift, warrior shackles, and coil spacers....and slap some 31's on there andn have a mean looking truck.

Blayne, just wondering if you got them yet? I'm now thinking about getting them, depending on your report! Be sure to do a measurement pre- and post- installment.

A couple things....

First I don't think you actually need special spacers for your explorer, I thought they were pretty much all the same.

You probably wouldn't want to add 2" worth of spacers, because that's quite a bit, and I don't know if your brackets would even allow you to truly get 2" of lift, and even if you could, I would think that your flex wouldn't be very good.

Go Fast: You would probably be better to go with the body lift. The only problem, is that if you don't add very much lift, you won't have all the room in the fender that you have right now which really allows the superlift kit to flex those 33s. I have the superlift 5.5" kit also, but I have a 2" body lift, fender trimming, and I'm still going to add an inch more suspension so that I can really flex 35s when I decide to add them.

Okay...this is the deal: DayStar makes a product for the explorer specifically for the front coils, but it is an isolator not a spacer...does not add lift. Not real sure how it isolates....but that's what it is. It makes a spacer for the Ranger and Bronco 2. My truck is a '91, so I have the same front end as a Bronco 2 of the same year. Don't know if the application would be the same for newer explorers. So I told them to quote me a price on the Bronco 2 spacers. They said they couldn't because they currently don't have any. The word I got is that DayStar is a relatively small corporation with a small facility. They only produce certain products at a time...then re-set up the assembly line, then produce a some of there other products. Their estimated shipping date for the product was 120 days. Not real bad when you consider the situation, but the guy also told me that 120 days is the highest shipping date they use...there for 120 actually means at a minimal of 120 days. I am going to order them again regardless, but for now I'm going to slap on the set I had made. If they work out fine, I'll let you know....and could have some made cheap for all interested. Just that they are pretty heavy...so shipping might be expensive.
