2000 Merc Mounty V8 AWD
Hi Guys,

I have a 00' Merc Mounty 5.0L AWD that I bought not too long ago. It has about 25,000 miles on it.

I've been noticing a real definite hum and vibration from the floor. It seems to come from the front differential. Happens most noticeably when slowing down/coasting to a stop at like around 25mph or less. You can hear it and feel in on your feet. Even my buddy did in the passengers side. Brakes aren't being pressed. I told the dealership about this and they completely replaced the front brakes system....rotors and all!!! warranty!!! Didn't help.

Is this normal? Doesn't seem to be....altho this is my first AWD. I haven't checked the fluid yet. To dang cold to crawl under, even in a garage. I had asked when I bought it and they said all fluids were good.

I thot I read once where a guy had gears placed in the front diffy, off by about a 0.100"(somethjing to that effect). But now I can't find it. It seems a TSB was mentioned.

How can I find a TSB related to a problem such as this?

It's under warranty till September so I want to get this fixed before summer.

Thanks,

I had to have my entire front diff replace about 4 months ago on my AWD. There was water in it and it ruined the bearings, it was done under warranty, they asked me if I had gone in any water and I said never any over the hubs and they did not give me any grief. They said that the truck it built to go offroad and they don't think that water to the hubs should have caused any probs. GREAT DEALER:D
