my front Seal on my differential has been leaking for a while now. i always thought it was a bad seal on my oil drain plug, but after some detective work, i found the culprit. it seems VERY premature since this truck has just 46K very light miles on it. and its been like this possible for over 6 months, if not longer.

my question is, how hard is it to fix, and has anyone else had this issue?

either im very unlucky, or u guys dont pay attention

I don't know how to do it off the top of my head, but suggest you go purchase a service manual of some sort...spelling may be off, but a chiltons or haynes should do you good. I used my manuals on my other rigs for all sorts of stuff, plus they are a good way to get to know your vehicle if you don't mind doing some light reading.

yep i already picked up a Chilton.

i was curious to the frequency of this problem... seems like this was the back sheep of the Explorer bunch. this car has been having stupid issues like this since i got it in 05'

My '04 is starting to leak at the same place. Since I work at an auto repair shop I'm gonna keep my eye on it. The fluid level in the front diff is good so gonna wait a bit before replacing the seal.

im going to add some 80w90 to the front case. its low.

Unbolt the yoke, pry out the old seal and drive the new one in.
