Hello again everyone.

Trying to get the front drive shaft back into The Archbishop (96 4.0 4wd).

After sitting for a few years, the bolt holes for the front drive shaft (both to the transfer case and to the front axle) are a little rusty. I'd like to run a tap through these hole before bolting it back together so I don't mess up any threads.

Does anyone know the thread size and pitch for the bolts that run from the front drive shaft to the front axle?

The bolts for the drive shaft to the transfer case are 5/16 24, but I don't know about to the front axle.

With this type of u-joint caps:

The bolts are usually 1/4-28 or 1/4-20, if Dana parts are in use.

This type, also Dana, uses 5/16-24 usually, though I've seen 5/16-18. Either are OK, so long as the nuts are correct thread size. Sorry I can't tell you more.

Thanks, imp! Looks like mine are the 1/4-28 screws--Spicer parts, from what I can gather.
