Question. The High-velocitey joint(not the u-joint but the joint that goes in to the transpher case) went on my front drive shaft. I am thinking about buying one of these used but the only thing that is stopping me is i don't know if this is a comon thing to go on a 2000 exp. Any one have any insight on this?

The constant velocity joint's were know to get bad on the older explorer's because they were very hard to get grease into the ball bearing joint itself. Rather that getting yourself a used one and maybe getting into the same problem, get your's rebuilt at a drive-line refurbishing place. It should not cost that much. I had my older explorer done for $150.00 Canadian. That's not alot in American money.

Would you mind explaining the symtoms you are having?

I don't have any advise for you, but fear that I may experince the same problems.

Thanks!

My u-joints were getting bad (One was seized and giving a slight vibration)and so I removed the drive shaft to replace them. When I took apart the constant velocity joint, there is a piece that fits into each other that consists of a large round piece(nipple) and a cup with roller bearings around it. Mine were shot. Lack of grease had made them wear badly. I went to a drive line garage and they rebuilt it for me. The guy told me they do them alot. It is a very hard joint to grease so I now spray a silicone lube up into it with a tube. No problems since.:)
