Hi guys,

I have a torn boot on the slip yoke of the front driveshaft (t-case to diff). I have a replacement boot.

My question is, what (if anything) am I supposed to use to lube this slip yoke before I seal it up with the new boot? Will bearing grease work, or will that attract dirt and cause other issues?

I looked there, didn't see it. I also did a google search on this forum, didn't find it.

I just use bearing grease, but don't go nuts.. the first time I did it, I put too much in and I couldn't compress the drive shaft all the way..

BTW.. I use a rack/pinion boot with the ends cut off for my replacement boot.

old shock boots will work too as for lube, any grease is good in my book.

Thanks guys!!! :)

So, just a light layer, not stuffed like a CV boot, correct?

get a blob on ur hand and just go over the splines....lol so i guess a layer but not like a cv boot...

Correct.

If you stuff it, you won't be able to compress the yoke into the bigger shaft.
