Hi guys new user here, I was in an accident about 2 years ago. As you can see in the picture I got some front end damage. The fame and everything is fine, just beat the body panels and hood to hell. My airbag did deploy though and I want to replace everything for that system. Its a given I need a new drivers airbag, is there sensors or modules that need to be changed? I'm assuming there is some sort of sensor in the front end to let the airbag know to deploy. Where is this located on the car? What else would I need to replace? Thanks a lot guys

Sensor should be located right behind the front grill mounted to the center support.

My guess is that it shredded your dashboard on both sides when they came out?

I keep the "Mother In Law" switch set so it doesn't deploy the passenger air bag.

If it's needed I'll only have to replace the steering wheel cover.

I turn it back to "On" if my kids or wife are in the truck.

Good!

The passenger side usually tears things up bad.

P.S. Glad you are Ok.

Replace the module with one that hasn't been in an accident (used is ok). It's usually plug and play and easiest way. Definitely don't use any of the reflashing services on ebay.

You will need the sensors that were damaged up front along with the seat belt(s) and buckle(s). You may only need the drivers side stuff but of course test all for correct operation.

There are pretensioners in the belt buckle assemblies I know for sure. They have little charges in them that fire off and pull the buckle down about 3" when in an accident to make sure your seat belt is tight.

As an aside, It was about $600 to get the front bumper replaced when that Prius bounced off my front end. You might want to check the front impact bar to see if it sustained damage. Mine luckily did not.

I hit a deer on my 07 Explorer destroyed Right headlight upper and lower bumper cover and grill. Driver Airbag went off. How do I check what sensors I need? Can I just buy a Airbag plug it in and see if I have any warning lights? Of would airbag deploy if I have a bad sensor?

New Air bag may go off if you have a tripped sensor.
