I tried looking this up for I don't know how long and I can't be the only one thats run into this problem. AnywayI have a small issue, on both my 95 and 96 explorers the front end thumps in 2wd mode but as soon as I'm in 4auto it stops so I been driving around in 4auto since its no different than the 97+ex's in auto mode it doesn't bother me but I'd like to get to the bottom of this issue because the way I see it is the axle is probably not properly disconnecting which is causing the thump so if this is the case that the axle is having issues like this I'm afraid that someday the axle isn't going to connect when I need it to. How can I fix this? What could be causing it not to disconnect correctly if this is the problem? Is it possible to replace the right side axle shaft to just convert this to a live axle application?
Thanks for readin hope someone can either point me in the right direction or help me solve the problem.
