for a while i heard a noise in my front end on the drivers side, assuming it was the auto hub. well i made a very sharp left turn in 4wd a couple months ago in the snow and the noise got worse. went to a mechanic i know and sure enough the wheel bearings on the driver side were pretty bad. so i replaced all bearings and both the seals on both sides of the explorer. the noise never went away. the ride is much better but there is still that turning noise you get with a bad wheel bearing, ive also noticed that when backing up theres a slight tick coming from the front hub. im thinking (hoping) its just the auto hubs, but then again it could be the axle. any ideas? any reply would be greatly appreciated.

I had a ticking problem with my manual hubs. There was a spring in there that when I went backwards would catch on the gears and make a ticking sound. It bugged me but still worked great. But you have manual hubs. Could still be that same spring, I'm not sure.
