i am getting a noise sounding like the trandfer case trying to shift into 4wd when i turn sharp and slow. reverse or forward. thought it wa a bearing at first and did a break job and turned rotors, packed hubs... sounds like the front end is almost locking. i can spin the rear tires in the grass and it quits. drive for miles and no noise until i turn real sharp at a slow speed. i cant tell anything by lifting the front end and spinning the tires with the wheels turned. the electric shift selector does not light up or do i hear the transfer case try to fully engage. maybe someone can help and i can give more specific details. thanks, riverbum

i think my hubs are trying to grab. they are auto lockers. not crazy about them but they were factory. they have 170k on them with no trouble until now. been off road very little so i find it strange they are showing wear.im considering manual hubs. any thoughts on this would be helpful. price comparisons, performance, ect. i think they should be an easy install.

Auto hubs suck. They are known to be problem matic. just because they were used very little doesnt mean they dont go bad. The manual hubs are stronger and much more reliable. They are very easy to swap out yourself. I am sure there are plenty of article on it here on the board.
