I recently replaced both L and R inner and outer tie rods, the L front half shaft, but I'm still having a popping noise occasionally on the LF when turning only at low speed. I've jacked it up and wiggled and pried everything but can't find a problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Also, I replaced my RF wheel bearing hub assembly about 10000 miles ago with the cheapest assy from Rock Auto, and the thing is already completely shot. When I jacked it up I could easily wiggle the wheel, and it's definitely the wheel hub/bearing. Is this a common problem with cheap parts?9 months and 10000 miles seems ridiculous even for the cheapest of parts!

10k on a cheap bearing is exactly what tests have shown. Yet there are those here that deny that.

The best of bearings are still 'under engineered' for this vehicle. Don't know if it's a size issue or what.

When a good one fails, it's noisy, but I've never seen one that fails and is visibly movable. That's bad.

Your popping, is it at low speed/hard turn only? Are you 4wd or AWD?

Please provide a little more info about this popping noise.. is it only at a certain speed? Only on one side while turning one direction only? Only during extreme sharp turns or at the slightest turn of the wheel?

Most of times this turns out to be the constant velocity (CV) joint. This runs from the knuckle into the gearbox/half shaft and will have rubberized 'boots' around the connections.

Cheap parts yield short life. I always say when brakes/suspension/tires are concerned, do not cheap! Get at least base level/stock components since these parts affect your ability to steer, stop, and control your vehicle effectively. In this case it's only a wheel bearing. Also a side note, make sure to get your truck aligned by a specialist whenever changing out tie rods, this will extend the life of your tires as well as improve control.

Best wishes,
Brandon

Its AWD. The popping noise I'm hearing sounds like a tie rod on start from dead stop or while turning to get out of a parking spot. Like I said, though, I replaced inner and outer tie rods on both sides and everything else seems to check out. I'm more than a little baffled.

So, have you replaced the cheap, inferior, crappy wheel bearing yet?
Be nice to know if the symptoms persist even with a brand new cheap, inferior, crappy bearing that is brand new.

It may be nothing at all. Did you happen to move the steering when the engine was off? That can get air in the system and make it sound like it is being destroyed. With the engine running move the steering wheel to each extreme a couple of times and see if that popping goes away.

Good point Opera House, could be a possibility. I would definitely check the cv joints or have a shop check them
