Hi,
I have an 1996 Explorer and I like to know if there are any aftermarket companies that sell the Headlight lens?

Mine are faded and also one has water in it. I am just wanting to get new ones since my rig is 6 years old and there look sick looking. If anyone can post a shop online that I can get them from?

Thanks,

No one makes them. You can clean what you have or just get new ones. They are somewhat cheep if you find them online.

Thanks,

I would really like to just replace them. I also notice like my lens are not GLASS and seems like mines some kind of hard plastic ,,, thats why they are faded.
If you have any links to shops online that would be cool.

Thanks

mine too. i'm pretty sure they are all like that....no glass and the plastic gets yellow and faded over time from the sun. thankfully mine are still in great shape. like black magic said, go try ebay first. they are on there all the time. good luck.

Well if you want to try to save em, try these steps first:

Take the lens off and fill it up with water. Since water got in there, it has to come out somewhere when you fill the lense up with water. After you find the hole, plug it with clear silicone. Also make sure that the seal that the headlight bulb is good as well, because water can get in that way too. Then let the headlight it sit in the house overnight to make sure all the water evaporates. You might dry most of it with a hairdryer.

For the yellowness and cloudyness, wetsand the outside of the lenses with 1500 grit sand paper. Follow that up with some scratch remover (such as Blue Magic or Nevr-Dull). A final step is to put a nice coat of wax on them.

That worked for me.

Actually there IS a company that makes aftermarket Explorer headlights. I put a pair on a 98 last week.
Crummy quality. Fit was less than stellar.
