Front Oil Seal 4.0 Leaking, Need to Replace

Has anyone replaced their FOS themselves? My Haynes manual says to use a puller (Ford tool T74P-6316-A or equivalent)...what would be an equivalent? Also, when I inspected the back side of the crank pulley with a mirror, there appears to be a rubber bonding material that is deteriorating...should I go ahead and replace the crank pulley too? Any help appreciated.

Equivalent would be any tool made to pull a crank pullet. The deteriorating rubber is the harmonic balancer. Replace it and it'll run better if its really bad. Front seals are a *****. Good luck
