I understand the front parking sensors do not beep on the explorer (unlike smaller Fords like the focus..why this oversight Ford??).

Did anyone get an aftermarket beeping front sensor installed or any other ideas?

Why do you have parking sensors on the front? You can't see where your car is going when you look forwards? I haven't driven a 5th gen so I wouldn't know how hard they are to park however I have had several suv's and never seemed to have an issue finding my front bumper.

Actually it's a nice feature - had it on the Audi we traded...

when backing and turning the swing of the front end COULD impact your garage door frame or the like...

We've not looked to see if our 13 sport has front sensors....
guess it wasn't important to the wife once she SAW and DROVE the sport :)

Those front sensors work in conjunction with the Active Park Assist. They are not like the rear sensors and therefore they don't beep.
I do agree that it would be "nice to have" front sensors similar to the rears for indicating how close you are to a curb, etc. The hood seems to make that judgement a little more difficult than previous SUV's I've had.

The Sport doesn't have Active Park Assist so therefore you would not have the front sensors.

It would be nice to be able to integrate that with the MFT screen by adding a camera.

Yes!! I really liked the system on the Lexus RX350 and our MDX had several different camera views.
The front on the 5th gen EX's is just so long and sloped and you're sitting kinda low inside, it's not like you have a commanding view of every corner of the vehicle. Have you seen how big the door panels and pillars are?!? You have no idea how close you are to anything. Well it's not that bad, but it's definitely no small vehicle. And I read somewhere that the EX is and inch wider than the Expedition? It's definitely a large crossover.

Not quite. The Explorer is 78.9 inches and the Expedition is 78.8. This is not counting the mirrors.

The front on the explorer is LOWWWWW... most SUV's you know where the front is, but if you overhang a parking block it doesn't matter. On the explorer it will scrape. Sensors in the front would be nice.

...plus the front end of the Ex, the MDX, Tahoe, etc
its all a large curved & painted front, no more bumpers on a lot of SUVs,
the kind you dont mind bumping once in a while,... I dont want to scratch all up.

...now my front bumper is the license plate...lol poor little thing

Bahahahahaha! Same here, my wife and I always say "thank goodness for that license plate". Lol

The front sensors are also used for BLIS.
The front sensors do not have anything to do with BLIS. The BLIS unit is hidden behind the fender rearward of the back wheels where the blind spot is. There is an illustration in the Owner's Guide.

the front-sensor "sport" has is ABS sensor ? (or sport doesn't have any front sensor?)
what about "adaptive cruise control"/crash control? Is there front sensor for these function?

The Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) function is fully explained in the Owner's Guide including a picture of the sensor location (page 248). There isn't an "ABS sensor". I assume you are referring to the Collision Warning System with brake support (page 261). The Warning System is part of the ACC package. You must have one to have the other. That package is a factory installed option so I can't tell you if you have it or not. The Sport, to my knowledge, does not have front bumper sensors. Those sensors are part of the Active Park Assist system which is not available on the Sport. Hope that helps.

Thanks Peter for the detail explanation. a few friends of mine have the "limited" w/ active park assist system. but they mentioned that the front bumper sensors did not beep (or work) when doing "manual" parking. Or there is a way to turn it on for both "auto" and "manual" or it is supposed to work in both ways?.

my explorer sport 2013 doesn't have it but it's OK because I can see

The front sensors do not beep. Only the rear system does that. The front sensors are only active when using the Active Park Assist and then they act as a sort of radar to aid in the self parking. They don't beep under any circumstances.

Peter,
See the link already posted:
Maybe asking about the add-on sensors

http://accessories.ford.com/park-assist-front-4-modules.html

The front end is big, no more finding any parking spot I want in the city ...
...wish I had a front cam....

It's a different system. I think the one the OP asked about is the add-on version.
