Front Passenger Axle Shaft Binding

I just finished the front end of my Superunner 5.5" kit and now the slipjoint in the passenger side axle-shaft binds (fully compresses) when either side of the suspension travels.

This is really bad because it: limits suspension travel to almost nothing and is very hard on the axle shaft and the front differential.

I can't be the only one who has experienced this so please reply with any suggestions you may have.

Hmmm, I don't have that problem. Why don't you measure the distance from the center of one TTB axle pivot bolt to the other. I'll measure mine and we can compare...

I've been dealing with a rep. at the fabrication company that makes Superlifts. He's very knowledgeable (he actually drives a lifted vehicle) and is involved in the R&D, manufacturing and testing of Superlift's products.

I just talked to a friend of mine who does installations. He has never come across this problem, but he suggested that you make sure you actually have 5.5" brackets and not 4" he said occasionally they will ship with the wrong bracketery.

However, I used to run 3.5" brackets and 5.5" springs with no problem.

How exactly does it bind? Is the slip joint fully compresed while the truck is sitting at regular ride height oer only when you compress the suspension?

Rick, the slip-joint is virtually out of travel sitting at regular ride height. I've yet to try putting it in 4wd as I just finished the lift and am wary of breaking my diff or axle! As for the brackets, the Superlift brackets they sent me are for both the 4 and 5.5" lifts, you just use the right hole in it. I'm still puzzled, but searching around I found (I'm pretty sure) an article of the Zimmermans buildup on offroad.com and they had the same problem. The only difference is their binding was travel related! Thanks though...
