Loving this Forum. Many many helpful threads. I did a search but could not find what I was looking for:

My front passenger window motor is shot. Went to the local Junk Yard, and got myself a regulator assembly. As I took the motor off of the regulator, the dang thing snapped back and almost took my fingers off. Now, comes time to replace the bad one. The window is currently in the down position, and I am wondering if when I take off the bad motor, if that regulator will also snap back. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

..Tell me about it!....

I cut my thumb off a couple years ago when I was replacing my regulator. They were able to sew it back on, and it works 100% now...but it was pretty nasty.

With the window installed, and the motor removed, the regulator will not snap back violently like that. With no load on the spring, it will snap back. The weight of the window will counterbalance the spring. That is what it is there for.

Yeah, the motor went in without a problem. Took me a total of about 30 minutes to remove & re-install the new motor. Loving the fact that my window is now operational.
