I have a '99 explorer sport and I am installing recovery hooks to the front and rear. I'm going right to the frame and through both bumpers. I'd like to fully remove the bumpers to work on them but I have no experience with air bag systems (which are connected to the bumpers). Is there anything I should know about before removing the bumpers? I know in the vehicle air bag control wires are in yellow "flex-loom" but that's it.

Thanks!

The airbags aren't connected to the bumpers. The sensors for them are in the engine compartment somewhere. The only thing to worry about disconnecting is fog lights if you have them.

hey just wanted to add my 2 cents worth. i just actually got done removing my front bumper to add tow hooks to the front also, don't worry about the air bag sensors they are not located on the bumper, they are above that behind the grille if i remember right. as for the fog lights if you have them that is easy just disconnect them before ya loosen the bolts for the bumper. it's a mad easy remove. hope this helps also.....
