I have a thump from my right front tire, that is sensitive to speed (more freq. with increased speed) but goes away when I press on the brake pedal firmly.

I have jack up that corner and grabbed the tire and could not feel any play going from 12-6 nor from 9-3 wiggle. (aasuming my ball joints and tie rod ends ok.
Pulled the wheel and the hub nut does not seem loose.

I will start by rotating tires to see if it moves.
Any other suggestions.

Check the brakes. If its speed sensitive something is probably rubbing and making the noise. When you press the brake the caliper pushes the pads against the rotor and the noise will stop because it is now constant contact...

Could be a stuck caliper or warped brake rotor. If its sticking just a little, the rotor can heat up and warp. If so replace the caliper, pads, and rotor. You could turn the rotor but they are cheap- about 30$ at local parts house.

Its a long shot but you may have a flat spot in the tire. Has the truck sat for a while? Few months maybe?

good luck

I'll pull the wheel again, swap it, and check in to the brakes.
Thanks for the input.

No truck has not sat...but have to get (2) fron t tires worked on.
one had valve stem leak, the other rim leak

well I went to swap the 2 front wheels and look at the right brakes....
Brakes looked fine...BUT when I went to remove the left wheel the lugs were loose  came off way tooooo easy.

So much for the tire shop torqueing the nuts!!!

Gues what the sound is believe is gone...have to wait for roads to clear up a bit to be 100 certain..

What puzzles me is the left nuts were loose but the thump came from the right side (like a brake part was banging on that side):confused:

Wow that will do it. You are lucky the wheel did not come off. That happened to my cousin's ranger. We rounded a bend about 40, out in the county, and the drivers wheel/tire decided it was done supporting us and went on its own adventure. Luckily no one was hurt and the only casualty was the drivers brake rotor.

I would inspect all the lug nuts, front and back, just in case.
