I have a 2000 explorer with an electric seat on driver side. All seat functions work but seat will not go all the way to the front. Just started doing this with no warning. Wondering if it can be a faulty switch. Can't be motor as it works all other ways. Have checked for snags and stuff in way and all is clear.

Back has defined stop. Going front it just gets slower and slower and finally stops like something blocking but again nothing can be seen in way.

You can rule out the switch and/or motor by jumpering the switch out of the circuit.

The wire harness connector to the switch should have one black/white wire which is power, and one black wire which is ground. All the other connector pins go to the motors. By jumpering between the black/white wire and red/white it should go forward. Jumpering between black/white and yellow/white it should go in reverse.

If while doing that it still has the symptom of slowing down and stopping prematurely, then the switch is not the problem. If that is the case I would sooner suspect wear on the track or that it needs lubed since the motor does move it initially.

Thanks JC,
I'll do that test and then pull the seat and check the tracks if the switch is good.
