going through the same situation, have searched high and low for a company that makes a skid for our X's to NO gain. so i went and bought a slab of aluminum and am gonna make a custom SKID along with my front bumper. will have drawings along with pics and measurements as i get them done ;) ;)

You will most likely need to have one custom made, or make your own. I made one to fit a 95+ a few years back out of aluminum diamondplate.

that looks great, good job with the cutting.I might try it and cut some sheets up.Where did you mount the panels to the body?

skid plate

I made a simple plate for mine mainly to protect the radiator and coolers, ripped the plastic one off very early in the piece,it is made out of 2mm steel

Does anyone know where we can get the diamond plate for a decent price?

your best bet is to start in the local yellow pages under metal it will be cheaper to find something local, as shipping on metals is pricey

Hey JD, I like the design, where and how did you fasten it, and did you add any structurals to the backside or jsut go with the 1/4" DP

I want to make something very similar for mine, except I want it to extend up to the front more on a custom made rallybar.

i found some thin DP that is super thin and can be cut with a pair of hand cutters. i found it ace hardware. its somewhat cheap and might give some sort of protection but just throwing it out there might be a good investment for someone that doesnt off road much.

fyi : i think the largest sheet is 48x48 and comes in red chrome and black

The diamondplate I bought was a 4' x 8' sheet, and at the time it ran about $220 for the whole sheet. My neighbor and I split it as I didn't need that much.

As for mounting, it mounted to the tranny crossmember where the torsion bar covers mount, the main engine crossmember and the bottom of my brushguard. I made a couple of tabs to mount it to the brushguard and then reinforced the guard to frame mounting.
