Ive had my explorer for about 2 1/2 years now and at first i thought it was just me but when I went to the shop to get new rims and tires put on I asked the machanic why my front wheels stick out father then my rear wheels mine is a 93 sport and I even looked at the newer explores and they dont look like this does it have something to do with my four wheel drive system or what. And what can i do to make my rear wheels stick out as far as my front ones ????

The track width of the front and rear are different on most vehicles. Im no engineer but I believe that it is done for stability and handling. Im not sure I would worry about it. I think it is about 2" (inch each side)although I couldnt find it in my manual. May even cause some problems in handling if you try to "correct it". Thats the way the factory designed it, and many others. I would bet the new ones have a wider track in front than rear also.

FWIW

Steve
