Frustrated

My boy has a 93 explorer sport 4x4. The other day he left the house and made it 1/2 mile down the road and his truck shut off. He re-started it and put it in drive and nothing. No forward or reverse. We tried it in 2 wheel, 4 wheel and 4 low and still nothing. I.ve checked the fluid and linkage and everything looks ok. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Put it in gear and see if the rear drive line is turning.

Broken rear axle?

Need more info.

Is it a manual transfer case or electric shift?

How high did he jump it?

He probably lunched the transmission or transfer case, is my guess. Trans is more likely, as the t-case is very stout. If the truck died, whatever seized up in the trans was enough to stall the motor. If you drop the trans pan I have a feeling you'll find shredded metal.
