Hi,

I know these are common problem so I thought I'd post a couple of pics of mine.... The grey stuff is chemical metal which I put on to patch it up nearly four years ago. I think it's past repairing now though!

Have replaced with a nice used one from the states.

Yikes. I think mine needs replacing. I was going to scrape the years worth of road grime off mine and see what needs patching up but looking at your pics the road grime might be what's holding it together!

Where exactly did you find your replacement?

Haha. You are probably right about the dirt holding it together.

I got mine from ebay US. There is a seller there that just seems to sell filler pipes. It wasn't cheap but I got fed up with trying to make do and just bought one. It was about £70 with import charges but to be fair was in great condition and a new one wouldn't have been any better.

Haven't posted for a long time - the Ex is still going strong.
My filler pipe is even worse!!! Just had a look on ebay.com - can't find anything at a reasonable price - any ideas? Can I also assume that there is no difference between the US one, and the one that is on our imported Explorers. Rock Auto works out at about 100 quid all in plus import duty???, but really can't afford this amount. It also shows the parts as being for the US and Canadian models.

Hi,

The pipes are all the same LHD or RHD from 1996-2000.

I paid the best part of £60 to the seller and £18 to parcelfarce (sic!)

The seller had more for sale but I don't know what price you are looking to pay. I thought it was I lot but I couldn't be bothered messing around with it and just wanted a bolt on fix.

Will check for seller details and post back.

Steve

Thanks Steve, price doesn't sound too bad for the item, but $74 shipping was the best I could get from the guys on eBay, which on top of the £111 they wanted for a new one made it a bit heavy. Hope you might be able to come up with the seller and he may still have another one.

I'm after a filler pipe too. I bet if we bought two together the shipping would be less painful

Just throwing that out there! :D

Good Plan! He has six up on the listing so you could get a good multibuy going here.

If I buy two it comes to £51ish each including postage, plus I guess 20% for VAT when it hits customs

$72.55 shipping for two - that sounds better

The 72.55 is what his shipping calculator shows

I edited my post above after finding the shipping calc. £51ish each plus whatever import duties :D Not too bad if you ask me. It'll get rid of that silly CEL!

I am happy if you are

Looks as if we are all sorted.

Mine caught me completely by surprise - put in about a gallon and then found half of it was running round my feet. No warning at all - reckon all the mud up there had sealed the hole up. Try to regularly wash the mud off as much as possible, but travel through a lot of small country lanes to get to work - lots of farm animals!!!

I have a similar kind of drive to work... lots of mud

I sometimes get a check engine light come on and the odd petrol smell/drip which is why I need a new one.

I'll have one chaps if that helps?
Kev.

Hi Kevin. I'm afraid I already placed the order. Looking back it would have been sensible to ask around for more people!

If you're desperate for one I'll try to cancel the order!

Don't worry mate. I'm ordering some rear shocks from Rock auto, so I'll get one from there. Thanks anyway.
