Fuel filter change

I've got ~188K miles on my ex, bought it 5 months ago and finally got under to change out the fuel filter. Thanks to all of the people on here who have described doing so and what it takes. With the info from here, it took me maybe 15 minutes to jack up the mounty, pop off the old filter and put a new one in.

Not sure how long that filter had been on there but I cut it open and it looked exactly like this one that 2000Streetrod took out of his

well as usual, nothing really ever goes smooth when im doing it

got one of the lines off (from tank to filter) but could not get the other one off. and somehow i even broke the metal disconnect tool in the middle of it. dont know how it happened, but it did. getting the plastic tool tomorrow and tryin' again.

Hmmmm. It's been 20k since I last changed mine so I figured it was due. I couldnt get the damn removal tool/key on. The fuel line is choked-up too close to the fuel filter. I took it to an express oil change place that does fuel filters and they had the same problem.I either have to grind the tool down or cut the filter. Either way it's a major pain.

Just did mine, and with all the help here it was a 15 minute job!!

I jacked mine up so I could get myself and a creeper under and there is PLENTY of room to work under there. The filter is really exposed so I could get both hands in real easy. The metal retaining clips popped of nicely and the metal (scissor type) line removal tool worked like a champ. The end of the tool slides ALL the way in the line and some semi forcefull jiggling and pulling (on the lines and filter) and it popped right off.

I only removed the gas cap to relieve pressure and very little fuel dripped out......maybe 2-3 ounces. Of course the new filter slipped right on but had to fiddle with the rear hose to get it to seat correctly.....didn't want to grab the little hump in the line........I had to take the filter out of the clamp and push/pull from both ends.

Blowing on one side of the filter produced crystal clear gas.......blowing on the other side produced MUD!!!!

Oh......this was done on a 5.0L with 129,000 miles. The filter just about right below the drivers seat towards the center of the vehicle kinda snuggled up and hiding behind the frame member.
