Please understand my frustration in the words below.
Befor you ask why your check engine light is on, go to your nearest autoparts store (for most people, its less than 10 minutes away), and have them pull the code for free.

98's right. It could be anything causing your check engine light to come on. Get the code and post it here and I'm sure you'll have better luck coming up with a solution with the help of the very knowledgeable people on this board.
