Fuel Filter Retainer Clips

I'm trying to figure out how to get those silly red plastic clips off and for the life of me, I can't figure it out.

I've read all the fuel filter replacement posts but I guess I'm more of a visual person because I still don't understand how to remove them.

Does any have any other pictures/descriptions that might help me?

Also, if I do break them, can i replace them?

tap opens, the push both sides in.

I really am dense. Am I tapping the ridged part? If so, which way am i tapping it.

the red tabs open, its one side pry up, they open, then push them both in.
