It can vary based on what year yours is. I believe there are 2 or 3 different style connectors that connect the fuel lines to the filter. One style is a male/female connector (the male being the filter stem and the female being the fuel line connecter) that slides on to the filter stem and is held in place by a retaining "hairpin" clip. The other style (which is a PITA if you ask me) is the push connect or quick disconnect style fitting. This looks like a small version of the little thing you blow into on a trumpet. It is a female fitting as well, but slides over the stem of the fuel filter and snaps into place with a spring inside of the connector. To get this off, you need a quick disconnect release tool. However... it's an odd size, so it may be difficult to find one. I just found a cheapy 4.99 one at Autozone, but the smallest it went to was 3/8th of an inch, and I believe it's a 5/16th diameter one that you need.
As far as replacing them goes, I've heard it's a cake job and there isn't a whole lot to it. My buddies just said to elevate the front end (be it on a sloped driveway or those things you drive up on) and release the fuel system pressure by unscrewing the gas cap off. Then just pop the fittings, drop a new one in and reconnect the fittings. Like I said though, some years have whole housing units where you need to unscrew a wall that supports the filter while others (like my 95 sport) just have a C shaped thing that you pop the filter into.
