Has anyone simply relocated the very difficult to change fuel filter to a different location and a different type filter?

If so, please explain.

Thanks in advance....

I wouldn't mess with fuel lines..too risky

I’m sure 95XLT is just expressing that serious caution should be followed when modifying the fuel system. I know that Ford didn’t make fuel filter replacement easy for us shade tree mechanics, but with the proper tools and proper guidance (from a shop manual or someone with experience) it shouldn’t take but a few minutes of your time to replace the fuel filter. Seeing how the filters are generally good for many thousands of miles, one should only need to replace it every few years. The point I’m getting to (I do tend to ramble on) is, why would you be interested in moving the filter? Not that it’s any of my business or that you need a reason at all. In fact, most things I do defy any real logic (so says my wife!). It’s just that the work involved with moving the filter (or replacing it with a different filter) may not be worth it for something you do a few times over the life of your truck.

Anyways, just my winded 2 cents.

Why?

Why would you want to move the fuel filter. Its something that you may change 2 or 3 times for the life of the vehicle. I changed mine at 100k had it cut apart and saw no signs of rust, debris or clogging- I doubt I will ever change it again. Using gas from majors, or those supplied by the majors and staying away from ?able stations(those who may have older inground tanks) you shouldnt have any fuel problems. New tank materials(plastics) and EPA regs keep the storage tanks and our own gas tanks much cleaner than in the past.

I dont think you would gain much from relocating it, it would take much more time to relocate it than changing it 2 or 3 times will. Id spend my time and money on something else.

I don't think it would be difficult at all. I'm sure it is done all the time on super mods. Just need the right hose/tubing and a flaring kit or a braided hydraulic hose fitting and coupling. I don't know what that year would be like but I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult. The only reason I would change it is to get it out of the way of rocks and debris, not so it is easier to change the next time...just my opinion.

the nylon hoses and Ford tripple flare fittings can be assembled by boiling water and freezing the fitting, I have built several fuel lines and was turned on to this trick recently, before this I would fight that son of a bi&^% to get over the third flare. They will leak any other way, 50# or more pressure in there.

I presonally love my 88 style quick disco little white clips simple canister filter, I have moved it twice now to avoid the hot exhaust headers.....
