Fuel gauge not working

1992 4dr Explorer 4.0l Automatic. I live in Buffalo NY rust belt. Metal tubes of fuel sending unit rotted out, while trying to replace sending unit metal holdown ring molded in plastic tank crumbled into dust.I bought a southern rust free tank and sending unit altogether, just bolt it in. Now my dash gauge does not work. Anyone know the voltages or resistance values I can measure at the connector? Worst case I guess I will have to drop the tank and scavange parts off my old sending unit to mount on the new one.By the way it took Ford 3 months to get me a new strap to hold up the front of the tank, some national backoder. I bet 75% of you do not know the difficulty of wrenching on NY vehicles. All help greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure about the sending unit voltages, but another common problem with explorers is the float in the tank develops a hole, fills with gas and sinks, thus giving you and empty gauge reading. Good luck, whatever the case may be.

05 Explorer XLT intermittent gas gauge

With a full tank of gas : gauge at start up reads empty but soon after says full thus check engine soon light comes on : I reset the CHK ENG Soon light by disconnecting the NEG on the Bat. Then driving a few days later w/ about 3/4 tank of gas I was driving and the gas gauge went to empty for about 10min. then back up thus triggering the CHK ENG soon light again. Anybody got any input why the gas gauge is doing this would be great...THANKS
