Fuel gauge problem.

i just bought a 2001 ford ranger with a 3.0 liter V6 and the gas gauge dosnt work so i ran out of gas, i put gas in it and it still wouldnt start i tryed the fuel pump reset switch still nothing, any ideas???

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your post into its own thread. Your sending unit is probably bad or the float might have a hole in it.

The sending unit, and the fuel pump share a common connector, so it might have a bad connection.

This is going tosound kinda stupid. I didnt believe it until I saw it for myself. I have an 04 Ranger. It has had gas gage problems not working accuractly.

Get some Chevron injector cleaner with Teckron (black bottle). Others on the forum have had sucess with this fix. I use the cleaner every 2,500 miles, and my gage works perfectly now.
