Fuel gauge stops at half tank

2011 Explorer Limited. Has 85000 miles. Suddenly, even with a full tank of gas,the gauge stops at 50%. Is this common?any ideas?

If you do a 'Search' you'll find several threads on fuel readings being off. It could be a faulty sending unit as mentioned in one of them.

$1200 bucks quoted in another thread to replace the fuel sender unit. $500 more to replace the back up camera. This is getting ridiculous.

That's what was quoted in the other thread. Thanks for the heads up on this price. Looks like there are several to pick from. Any idea which one?

There are only 2. You have the left side and the right side. For $23 each, I'd just replace both.

My guess is one does the lower half and one does the upper half. Not sure which sides does which.
