Fuel in the oil? from where?

Is it possible to pull the upper and lower intake, put a strip of paper towel in each intake runner, and then bump the fuel pump to bring up pressure (by doing KOEO). Then let the truck sit for 30 min and come back and pull each paper towel to see which one(s) are soaked with gas? Does that sound reasonable?

Or is the injector down too far to reach with the paper towel?

You should be able to reach the paper towel down there. I mean, paper towels can be made to be pretty long, right? hehe

Gas + Oil = its gotta be a leaking injector, IMO. Unless the SOHC has like a fuel pump somewhere that runs off the/a camshaft or something?

Im not sure about the SOHC injectors, and how different they are from the OHV's, but i could always tell when i had a duped one... the tip would be either spin freely, be cracked, or just be non-existant haha.

I would say just pull em out of there, carefully of course, and see if you got an obvious cracked injector.

As soon as I get back from my business trip, I will try the paper towel thing just to see if I can figure out which ones are leaking, and then pull them all and replace the orings and visually check each one. The bad thing is i don't know how many to buy until I check them out which means I have to pull them twice. Oh well... all in the pursuit of happieness

Thanks for all the input, I will post the results of my tests when I get back..

OK well I am back, but it seems like the weather does not want to coorporate, as soon as this northeastern tsunami blows through and things warm up a bit I will tackle this and many other projects on hold.

weather turned nice so I started the reasearch again to fix this problem. It turned into a major fiasco that ultimatly led to an engine replacement, yup you heard me right

you can read all the details HERE

well my fuel injector problem is fixed and my truck should be good for years to come. I know what caused the leaky fuel injector, when I changed the fuel filter it was completely dirty, all kinds of stuff was in there. Not sure if it was ever changed, well it is now.

This is one of the major downfalls of the non return type of fuel rail. any dirt that gets by the filter has no where to go but into the fuel injector baskets or worse past the baskets and into the injectors themselves. I really don't like that and it will probably force me to change my fuel filter more frequently.

Also it may not be a bad idea to use a pressure gauge periodically to flush out the rails on each side so any dirt trapped in there gets removed and not flushed into the injectors. That is probably why they provide a pressure test fitting on each side of the rail.

One final thought, Gas has been crap lately, take the time to change your fuel filters and run a quality fuel system cleaner. You will not regret it in the least.
